That awkward space between reality and reality television.

The moment that I heard the latest tropical storm/hurricane was named Ophelia, I said to Benji, "the potential for this storm to do something truly wacky is through the roof! I would not be surprised if it hit land, did a back-flip and hit again." To me, this just seemed to be one of the most ominous names they could choose for a hurricane, right up there with Thor, Genghis, or O.J.. I was immediately reminded of the time The Simpsons took on Hamlet and Lisa as Ophelia quipped, "Nobody out-crazies Ophelia!" then proceeded to bounce around the room and jump out the window. This has been my catch phrase of the week.
Hurricane Ophelia has lived up to her name. In my memory, I can't recall quite so spastic of a hurricane. She has switched from tropical storm to hurricane and back to tropical storm four times already. She formed off the southern tip of Florida, bounced off of northern Florida, did a loopdy-loop in the Atlantic, headed straight back toward land, and has now stopped in her tracks off the South Carolina coast with a puzzled look on her face staring directly at Charleston!

It looks like a Family Circus dotted line that follows the kid around during a typical kid day.
I'm not entirely sure why I felt the need to blog about this. In the wake of Katrina it is hard to make light of a hurricane, but I'm fascinated by this.
